Versace just stole my heart!

When models get together...

      Whenever we travel around the world for modeling (NYC, Paris, HK, Tokyo, etc), there are always model's night outs with free food and drinks. We didn't have such a luxury in Toronto until yesterday. Thanks to Adrianne we had a great dinner together with the girls and then went upstairs to dance it all out. So much fun!

London Fashion Week review

        While i am sitting in Toronto, a lot of interesting things are happening on the fashion scene worldwide. Its shows time! And after NYC the next city to get the relay was London.

        Again, i watched the videos, i looked through the photos (thank you, http://www.style.com/), here are my standouts and thoughts on them :

Julien MacDonald's got beautiful models with big voluminous hair and smokey eyes, classic. The whole look fo the collection is very sexy. Well, sex sells, but wasn't expecting to see it from English designers. Julien Scored points for being unpredictable in this sense. Again lots of whites and light colours in the collection. Some beautiful flowy dresses, chic yet relaxed pieces.

Erdem is another great designer who warmed up my heart this season. I would love to own few of those pieces. Such beautiful dresses, such beautiful patterns and lots of lace and flowers! Red on white is really fresh and bright. Just right for spring-summer! And models are glowing, so fresh looking.

                    

      Now, i mentioned 'fresh', 'glowing', 'relaxed' here and there refering to the hair and dmake up created for the collections during NYC FW and Londodn FW. And this is definitely the look you would like to adopt for spring/summer 2011.

Orange lips, hair back, not sleek, very relaxed, looking or hair down, again not done up curly or straight, but a look that screams 'just rolled out of the bed'.

ANTM Elevated!

      This is the name for the new America's Next Top Model Ccycle 15 that kicked off on September 8th, 2010! And this time Tyra Banks, may i say finally, decided to get a winner out there. With the prizes like a cover of Italian Vogue and 2 spreads in it, contract with IMG models and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics, a winner is sure to have some exciting memories in her life and hopefully this will be enough for her to get a career in a high fashion part of the modeling business.
Meanwhile after watching the first 2 episodes i can see a few stand outs and the girls who can make it without ANTM, but surely the prize will help them ELEVATE right there!

NY Fashion Week post thoughts

I was watching SS 2011 collections in NY and browsing through the photos of it afterwards i decided to share my thought on some shows.

Oscar de la Renta. May i say gorgeous ? A number of strict and fun dresses, simple cute jumpsuits, gorgeous gowns. Never disappoints.

Ralph Lauren. Although predictable when you hear ‘ western inspiration’, but the collection is really cool, Victorian meets west in NY. Who says its weird? Very wearable, very easy to pull off on the streets of the big city.

In case of Anna Sui, ‘the western inspiration’ meets bohemian. I guess native Americans influenced the collection as well. Very relaxed and beautiful, with gorgeous patterns and very busy unlike some other collections.

                                       

Marc Jacobs’ collection is the highlight of NYFW for me. With its bold fall colors his Spring Summer 2011 collection becomes very contradictory of itself. Yet all looks are beautiful Gorgeous dresses, statement pieces.

  

J. Mendel. Dresses, dresses and more dresses! What a beautiful pallet of colours! Fun bloody orange Louboutins with pastel color collection and orange lips, great combo! It is definitely a must have for the next season!

CK black, and white, and navy and red. Some may say boring. I say conservative, sleek and chic. Straight silhouettes, very restrained but beautiful nonetheless.

                   

Vera Wang. If there were a few coats in there, I’d think it was a fall 2012 collection. A bit too dark and not summerish for me. Obviously, with a hint of Asian inspiration, is still very beautiful. Vera Wang knows how to do both lifestyle and fashion.
